Kendo - 剣道

My Top 5 Picks

What is Kendo
****
Learning the basics of kendo was easy with the use of this site. The information was short but easy to comprehend. There were also information on the philosophy of kendo, techniques, and forms. The gallery they had of the club was interesting to look at as well.
I would rate this site a 4/4 for the amount of information stored in i, and good overall layout.

Manners and Etiquette
***
In this site i found information about manners and the special characteristics about kendo. How to say simple greetings were written in romaji, but there were only few vocabs listed. The characteristics and proper 'morals' of kendo are described which is interesting to read. It also provided information about the shinai (the sword) and the proper handling/maintenance of it. If you want to join kendo, because this is a local group in vanocuver it would be easy to get involved.
I would rate this site a 3/4 for the informational content, but overall it was plain.

Get Informed
***
This site will update you on upcoming and recent events in Canada and how you can become involved. There are also reviews about past events and photo galleries of kendo tounaments. If you would like to find the information on kendo grading and the requirements, rules, and how to apply, this site will give you the details. The only thing I did not like about this site was that it was very plain. The format of this site was not the greatest. Therefore, I rate this site 3/4 stars.

Get Equipped
****
If you are looking to find equipment and specialized gears , I suggest this site to you. There are all the neccesities you need for kendo, along with other tools that would help keep you equipment in good condition. This site also has equipment for Aikedo and Iaido. You may order online if you wish to buy something and have it delivered. Also this company is often at kendo tournaments and related martial art events so you will be able to buy any merchandise directly.
The options and site navigation was easy to follow so I would rate this site 4/4.

Questions? Discussion?
****
Any rants or topics you want to raise can be inputted here! This was the only publicly open forum I was able to find about kendo. There seems to be daily posts in these forums so any questions would be answered quickly. The site provided me with variety of options to research or update myself in kendo. Results and news of tournaments world wide can be found here. It also contains a search engine for people who are looking for a specific organization or local club they want to join.
I would rate this site a perfect 4/4.
